Leon Rue Retired Aerospace Engineer Age Group: 70+
I am a retired Aerospace Engineer aged 71 and live in Southern California. I heard about MyBrainTrainer and decided to try it as age was having an effect on my memory and reaction time. I was making more typos when I typed, for example.
I have been on the program for about 2 months now and have seen a steady improvement in my scores on the exercises. I set a new personal record on an exercise about every other day now. My reaction times are about one half of when I started. The program keeps track of your progress and you can compare with others in your age group and occupation. I am at the top of my age group and am near the top in my occupation. I use the program for about 20 minutes a day.
Some of the improvements I've noticed is that I am typing better, remembering things better and can play the organ better. Playing the organ is a true test of hand eye coordination as you use both hands and both feet and have to read the music and make the voicing and volume changes as you go along. I am remembering the fingering of songs I used to play by memory but have forgotten. They are coming back to me and I'm doing better with the "multitasking" involved which has always given me problems before.
On a lighter note, I played pinball at a friend's house over Christmas and noticed my reaction time on the flippers was much better. My score was almost as high as the machine could measure.
I've talked with one of the developers who has been doing the exercises for over 2 years and yet he is still getting better scores which indicates that I should be able to continue to improve for a long long time yet.
