    General Questions

Q: Every time I take an exercise, I get "Error! Bad Response". What's going on?
A: The error message you're getting is usually a result of not having the latest version of Flash installed. You can get the most recent version of Flash for free here.

Please note that if you use multiple browsers, you will have to install Flash into each of them.

Once you're finished with that process, return to the MyBrainTrainer web site and try the exercises again. If you continue to have difficulties, contact technical support.

Q: Why doesn't MyBrainTrainer.com fill up my entire screen? Why is there so much white space on the right-hand side of the screen? Why is the text so small? What can I do about this?
A: MyBrainTrainer.com was designed for 800 x 600 monitor resolution. If you use a higher monitor resolution, e.g., 1024 x 768 or 1152 x 864, you'll see white space on the right-hand side of your screen. The higher your screen resolution, the more white space you'll see and the smaller the text will be. There are two easy ways for you to address this issue:

    1. use your browser's Page Zoom or Magnifying Zoom function. If you use Internet Explorer 7.0 or Firefox 3.0 as your browser, you can increase the size of everything on the page proportionately with the keyboard shortcut CTRL+. If you use Opera as your browser, the keyboard shortcut is +; OR
    2. change your monitor resolution to 800 x 600 when you use MyBrainTrainer. This is a simple operation that requires only a few clicks of your mouse. If you have a PC, click on the Start button, Settings, Control Panel, Appearance and Themes, and Change the Screen Resolution. If you have a Mac, click on System Preferences and then on Display.

Q: Exercise #x never ends! How do I make it stop?
A: All of the exercises on our website continue until a certain number of correct responses have been received. This number varies from exercise to exercise, but can be anywhere from 12 to 30. Check the instructions again to make sure that you are answering the questions correctly. Make sure that you are pressing the proper keys for that exercise. If you continue to have difficulties, contact technical support.

Q: I access the internet from behind a firewall. How should I configure the firewall so that I can use the exercises?
A: Firewalls should need no special configuration to work with MyBrainTrainer. If you can access this website, you can perform the exercises. If you believe that you are having a firewall-related problem, please Contact the Support Team.

Q: How do I terminate my membership?
A: Memberships automatically terminate 4 months after activation. We do NOT automatically charge your card again at the end of your membership term. As you near the end of your membership term, whenever you log onto the site, you will receive a message in the upper left hand corner telling you how many days remain in your membership term. If you choose to ignore these messages, your membership will expire automatically. If you wish to renew, you must click on the link and then provide a credit card number once again.

    Most-Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is MyBrainTrainer compatible with ad control software?
Ad control software such as AdSubtract or PopupKiller may alter our web pages before they get to your browser. Since our website does not contain popup windows or advertisements, you receive no benefit by using such software in conjunction with MyBrainTrainer.com. Therefore, we highly recommend you either disable this software while visiting our website or set up this software to exclude our website. If you need help doing this, please contact the vendor of your ad control software.

Q: I'm having problems accessing the site from work.
A: If the problems you are having aren't covered below, speak with your network administrator for further assistance. There are many ways that an administrator can set up your computer or the network which would prevent the exercises from properly recording your scores. Sometimes these things are done intentionally. Your network administrator will have more information.

Q: Why do I keep getting the "Terms and Conditions" page?
A: This can happen as a side-effect of ad control software, but mainly this happens when you don't have cookies enabled. To enable them, do the following:

    Internet Explorer
Go to the Tools menu and chose Options. Then, click on the Privacy tab. In the "Settings" box, click on the "Default" button, or, if you prefer to use the advanced set-up options to override the automatic cookie handling, be sure to select "Always allow session cookies".

    Netscape Navigator
Go to the Edit menu and choose Preferences. Then, on the left side, open up the option group "Privacy & Security" and select the "Cookies" option. Choose "Enable cookies for the originating web site only" or "Enable all cookies".

    Mozilla Firefox
Go to the Tools menu and chose Options. Then, click on the Privacy tab, and then click on Cookies. Then check the box that says "Allow sites to set Cookies".

If you continue to have problems, make sure that you are not running any ad control software, then please use the Contact the Support Team link.

    Exercise Questions

Q: Which size should I use for the exercises?
A: Generally, you should use the largest setting in which you can still see the "Cancel" button in the lower-right corner. However, we encourage you to try all of the different sizes to see which one displays the best on your computer.

Q: How can I make the exercises full screen?
A: In Internet Explorer, Netscape and Mozilla Firefox, you can view the website full screen by pressing the F11 key on your keyboard. When you're done using the site, just press F11 again to return your browser to a regular windowed mode. This option is not available for Macintosh.

    Basic Training Questions

Q: In Basic Training, how do I get the program to advance to the next day?
A: The program automatically advances you to the next training day eight hours after you have completed ALL of the elements of the current day. Please note that when an element is completed the red Start button in the Training box will be replaced by your Performance score. Please further note that all of the exercises must be performed from within the Basic Training Module. In other words, you can't go to Basic Training, see that you have to perform #1, #2 and #5 twice each, and then perform them by clicking on the Start buttons in the right-hand navigational bar. You must click on the Start Buttons in the Training box. One last word of advice - on Day 1, in addition to the exercises, you must also complete the short Pre-Training Self-Evaluation.

    Netscape-Specific

Q: After I complete an exercise, the "Performance History" graph is not showing up correctly. What's wrong?
A: This is something that happens from time to time in Netscape due to an image not loading. It seems to happen more often the first time this graph is displayed. Reload the page, and the graph should appear correctly.
